A
Brief History... |
Christchurch
Life Saving Club was started in 1970 as a voluntary rescue
unit to provide lifesaving services on Christchurch beaches.
Over the years the club has grown and is now become established
as a main provider of lifeguard and lifesaving training, as
well as still providing the lifeguard services to those that
require them. |

What
we do now... |
Our
emphasis is still to improve water safety through quality
education and training, within a friendly club environment.
Some of the awards on offer are National Lifeguard Awards
(pool & beach), lifesaving awards (Bronze Medallion etc),
Life Support & First Aid awards and a full range of Nipper
awards. |
| |
Competitions... |
Members
have the opportunity to regularly compete in lifesaving competitions
on both local and national levels. We even have an international
gold medallist within the club. Competitions can be either
beach or pool based and their is a strong emphasis on competition
training for any members wishing to compete. Nipper competitions
are well attended with the main feature being fun, as well
as learning. |

The
Social Scene... |
Social
activities are arranged throughout the year and include beach
barbecues, quiz nites, pool parties and excursions. All age
groups are catered for in the social calendar. Away trips
for competition often turn into social events. |
